“So, like, the scene had the dude from That Thing You Do in it…”—
A fragment of a conversation I heard while walking to my car in Los Feliz that’s now driving me nuts.
What scene? What movie? Did she just refer to Tom Hanks as “That dude from That Thing You Do”?
There are only four men to whom this could reasonably apply:
Tom Hanks - God, I hope not
Tom Everett Scott - who should be referred to as ‘the dude from An American Werewolf in Paris’
Steve Zahn - who should be referred to as ‘the dude from Happy, Texas’
Ethan Embry - who should be referred to only as Dutch (even though he didn’t play Dutch)
I suppose it’s possible that this person is referring to Giovanni Ribisi or Chris Isaak as well, but I highly doubt it.
