For those of you who don’t know, the all-new Channel 101 website went live last night.
This is a huge step for Channel 101. The new site offers videos in HD, completely embeddable and ready to share to your social network of choice. There is also an expanded search function that generates recommendations based on what you’re watching as well as a comments section directly underneath each video, which takes the place of the old Channel 101 forum.
Channel 101 has always been a place for innovation and a forum for artists who want to express themselves free of the constraints of corporate entertainment. But as the years went on, it became more and more apparent that the website, a key component of the Channel 101 experience, was falling behind the times. Channel 101 creators were increasingly forced to upload their shows elsewhere, simply because the existing site was not able to present their work in the way it deserved to be presented.
After months of trying to solve the problem, we finally decided that a complete redesign was the only way to bring the site up to the level of the content it was hosting. Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, as always, were behind the effort 100% and gave us all the resources and input we needed to make this a success. And we found the best web designers around to make this dream a reality.
The new Channel101.com represents months of hard work by Chris Cantey, Erni Walker and the team at Wonders. What started last summer as rough sketches on a whiteboard has now become a reality. The Wonders team did a fantastic job building a brand new site from the ground up. It was a pleasure dealing with them from beginning to end.
The driving force behind getting this project done was the amazing community that Channel 101 has built throughout the years. Every creator, actor and crew member who throws their weight behind the insanity of Channel 101 deserves to have their work presented in the best possible way. We hope the new site doesn’t disappoint.
